The wrinkled mass of flesh lay
radiating a glow that came
from experience, from knowledge, –
from a life led in love;
a sojourn of sorrows
completing the circle.

As it saw the Messenger,
his would be Chauffeur,
he called his grandson –
innocent as dew,
with a loving heart (found in few) –
the Untouched One.

The Wise One gave the New One
something to keep secure;
wrapped in a shredded sheath
was a shining sword –
Unearthly, Unalloyed, and Unrusted –
with a glow pure – passing
from the Purely Wise
to the surely Pure.
