I lie alone in a corner,
with millions crossing by
without a glance,
without any regard.

Those who are conscious, do,
and garland me with dried flowers
and leftovers.
I gladly accept these showers.
I thank them for aiding me fulfill my aim –
to take away the dirt, to cleanse life
of sickening stink
and troubling trash.

I thank them for they read the words –
Trash Can –
and follow my plea –
“Use Me, Please!”
